How to Become a HTX VIP: Volume, Holdings or Negotiated Terms.

HTX's quirk is structural: the VIP track and the market-maker track are separate applications with separate pricing. Most accounts sit on the wrong one. Here is how volume, token holdings and a private conversation with the desk compare.

Short answer

What is the difference between HTX VIP and the market-maker programme?

They are separate applications with separate schedules. VIP prices your volume; the market-maker programme prices continuous two-sided quoting and is where negative maker fees live. Being on one does not give you the other's pricing.

  • Can I apply for HTX VIP directly: Professional tiers are assigned from volume and holdings. Market-maker and institutional access are relationship-gated, which is what Xavion helps arrange.
  • Does HTX count volume from other exchanges: The automatic track does not. The institutional layer considers demonstrated volume anywhere when presented credibly.
  • Does a negotiated introduction skip HTX KYC: Never. Identity, residence, sanctions and source-of-funds verification apply in full at every tier.

1. Route one — the professional volume track

HTX assigns professional tiers from rolling 30-day volume across spot and futures, with the platform token adding a discount layer on top. It is one of the longest-standing venues in the market and its institutional channels are correspondingly well-defined.

The early rungs move the rate in small steps; the compression that matters is in the professional and institutional bands, where the schedule becomes genuinely competitive with anything in the market.

The structural point that costs accounts real money: the VIP track and the market-maker track are separate applications. An account can hold a good VIP tier and still be paying positive maker fees, simply because nobody told them the rebate programme was a different door.

Aggregation rules apply as elsewhere — sub-account volume counts under one master when the family is structured correctly, and does not when it is not.

Being a VIP on HTX does not make you a market maker on HTX. They are separate applications, with separate pricing, and the gap between them is where the money is.

2. Route two — token holdings and the discount layer

Platform token holdings add a discount that stacks with the professional tier. For an account already trading at scale, that is meaningful money on flow you are doing anyway.

It is also a portfolio position in the venue's own token, with price risk correlated to the platform your trading depends on. Hold it deliberately or not at all.

For accounts whose economics genuinely turn on basis points, a negotiated rate based on trading profile is a cleaner instrument than a token position taken for fee reasons.

3. Route three — negotiated terms with the institutional desk

Above the published ladder, HTX operates VIP, broker and institutional relationship programmes where terms are discussed case by case: demonstrated volume on any venue, credible projected flow, product mix and entity quality, presented through a credible introduction.

Because the tracks are separate, the single most valuable thing a good introduction does here is get the right file in front of the right desk — market-maker admission for quoting flow, institutional onboarding for corporate volume, and both where the profile supports it.

Xavion Capital negotiates on your behalf through direct partner relationships with exchange institutional and VIP desks. The sequence: profile assessment (volume anywhere, products, jurisdiction), compliance screening before any fee is taken, an honest read of what we expect a desk to grant, then a private introduction and discussion with the desk.

You complete HTX's standard KYC in full, and any preferential terms are the exchange's decision, confirmed privately and applied at their discretion. Where the numbers support it, well-presented files have secured treatment materially better than rack rate for accounts of comparable size — but actual terms are confidential and case-by-case, and nothing is guaranteed in advance.

HTX's best pricing is agreed per relationship. It never appears on the public fee page.

4. Which route fits your profile

Modest monthly volume: the professional track, and check whether you are on the professional schedule at all rather than the default one.

Meaningful, sustained monthly volume: worth a private conversation, particularly under a corporate entity where institutional onboarding applies.

Maker-heavy or market-making: apply to the market-maker track specifically. Holding a VIP tier will not give you rebate pricing, and this is the most common expensive misunderstanding on the venue.

Broker and routing desks: HTX runs broker programmes for third-party flow, which price differently again from both tracks. Bring the structure of your flow, not just its size.

5. Compliance, and what negotiation is not

A negotiated introduction is advocacy, not a workaround. Every account completes the exchange's full identity, residence, sanctions and source-of-funds verification, and we screen a file before we take a fee rather than after.

Final account approval, tier assignment and all account terms are determined solely by the exchange. We present a file, argue its merits, and tell you honestly what we expect a desk to grant — including when the answer is that your volume does not yet clear the bar.
