Xavion Capital/Insight/US Banking From Czechia
Banking & Payment Rails

Access US banking from Czechia through a US LLC.

Czech banking is efficient at home and awkward for a business paid in dollars. Koruna-first pricing, exception handling for non-resident ownership and international payouts that arrive slowly all add cost to companies whose customers are American. A US LLC puts the dollar side of the business on dollar rails.

Short answer

Can a founder in Czechia open a US business bank account?

Yes. A Czechia-based founder can hold US business banking through a US LLC with an EIN, onboarding remotely at a payment institution in roughly one to three weeks. US compliance underwrites the entity and the documented business narrative rather than your Czech address.

  • Why founders here do it: A US account that removes the CZK–USD round trip from every payment and gives US clients a domestic way to pay.
  • Who we see most: IT services firms, product and SaaS companies, agencies, and OSVČ contractors billing US clients.
  • Realistic timeline: Six to twelve weeks from decision to first received payment; the IRS EIN is usually the long pole at four to eight weeks without a US SSN.

01

Koruna-first banking against a dollar customer base

The Czech market is small, the currency is its own, and the banking is built accordingly. A company invoicing in dollars converts on arrival, converts back to pay dollar costs, and carries FX exposure between the two. For an IT services firm with a koruna payroll and a US client list, that exposure is not hedged — it is just absorbed.

Non-resident ownership is the other friction. Where beneficial owners sit outside Czechia, onboarding moves to the slower, more documented track, and appetite is thinner for anything that does not look like a domestic trading company.

Finally, US clients want to pay how US clients pay: ACH to a US account, with a W-9 on file. International wires to a Czech IBAN work, and they add a step to every payment cycle.

Two conversions and an unmanaged FX position between them is not a banking setup. It is a habit.
02

How this works with an s.r.o. or as OSVČ

With an s.r.o., the Czech company keeps operations, employment and Finanční úřad filings while the US LLC contracts with US customers and holds US rails, connected by a written services agreement with pricing that reflects real substance.

OSVČ contractors often use the simpler shape: the LLC contracts and receives dollars, with the Czech position handled by your účetní.

Czech residence, place-of-management and CFC rules can apply to a resident owner of a foreign entity. Build the structure with your adviser rather than presenting it later.

03

Which Czech profiles clear US onboarding

IT services, SaaS, agencies and product companies selling to US buyers clear standard onboarding with a prepared file.

Crypto, gaming, forex, adult, nutra and money services need matched institutions and a heavier file including AML policy, monitoring and licensing evidence where relevant.

Sequence matters — we match to published appetite before submitting, because a recorded decline follows the application.

How Xavion runs it end to end

Assessment first: beneficial owner residency, actual activity, counterparties, volumes and average ticket, then a plain answer on feasibility and institution fit before anything is filed.

Then formation, registered agent, operating agreement, EIN chased through the IRS, a banking file to institutional standard, submission to matched institutions and the compliance dialogue managed to opening — followed by rail-stack design and ongoing compliance including Form 5472 where applicable.

We do not contact previous institutions, recover funds or guarantee decisions. Speak with a partner and find out what is realistic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a Czech resident open a US business bank account?

Yes, through a US LLC with an EIN and a properly prepared file. Payment institutions onboard remotely in roughly one to three weeks; chartered banks in four to ten.

Can I keep my s.r.o.?

Yes. The s.r.o. keeps Czech operations and filings; the US LLC holds US customer contracts and rails under a documented services agreement.

Does this reduce Czech tax?

It is not a Czech tax plan. Residence, place-of-management and CFC rules can apply, and US filings including Form 5472 arise where relevant. Take Czech advice. General information, not tax advice.

Why not just open a USD sub-account in Czechia?

It helps with holding dollars but not with access: no US routing number for ACH, no W-9 for US procurement, and no coverage on platforms that settle only to US accounts.

Do I need to travel to the US?

Usually not. Most licensed payment institutions onboard remotely; we flag in advance any that require in-person verification or a US signatory.

How long does it take?

Six to twelve weeks from decision to first received payment, with the EIN the long pole at four to eight weeks without a US SSN.
