If you live in Singapore but operate a BVI, Hong Kong, US or other foreign company, the right account depends on the company and its payments—not just your residential address. Xavion helps owners assess international business banking, multi-currency collections and documented crypto settlement through a free initial consultation. We point you toward a suitable institution; any paid engagement is agreed separately.

This service is for operating companies and transparent holding structures, including owners coordinating family-business treasury. It is not a personal offshore savings account, investment product or promise of tax-free banking. Xavion is an adviser, not the bank or account issuer.

Short answer

Can a Singapore resident open an international account for a foreign company?

It may be possible when the provider accepts the company’s incorporation country, ownership, activity and intended payments. Singapore residence alone neither guarantees nor rules out eligibility. Xavion reviews the complete business profile.

  • Is this the same as opening a Singapore company bank account: No. This service focuses on Singapore-based owners with international account needs, including foreign entities. A Singapore-incorporated company’s local account requirements are a separate question.
  • Can you help with BVI holding companies and business treasury: We can review transparent holding-company and treasury cases, including their group ownership, funding and distributions. We do not offer investment management or assume every family office or trust is accepted.
  • Can an account receive crypto-related business revenue: Only if the institution approves the specific activity and funds flow. Own-company crypto conversion, customer-money exchange and token issuance require different assessments.

Singapore residence, foreign company, international account: three separate checks

Start with three facts: where the owners live, where the contracting company is incorporated, and where the account provider operates. A Singapore address does not turn a BVI company into a Singapore company or make it eligible for every local business account. Equally, an overseas account does not change the company’s legal identity.

For example, a Singapore-resident owner whose BVI trading company invoices European buyers needs eligibility for that exact entity, evidence of the trade, and receiving details the buyers can use. Creating another company simply to apply for banking may add obligations without fixing the original mismatch. We assess the existing structure first; incorporation and account approval remain separate decisions.

Match collections, balances and payouts before choosing a provider

Describe who pays the company, the invoice currency and where suppliers or group companies receive funds. USD, EUR and GBP balances can help international operations, but a currency balance is not necessarily local receiving details. Ask whether the details are issued in the company’s name, which inbound transfers are supported, and whether SWIFT or local payment routes meet the actual need.

A multi-currency payment account and a bank deposit account are not interchangeable. Review the legal provider, safeguarding or deposit-protection arrangements, transaction limits and permitted counterparties. If customers insist on a particular account country or domestic payment method, tell us before the assessment. Do not assume a multi-currency account provides domestic SGD banking.

Trading receipts, holding-company funds and crypto flows need different files

An active trading company should be able to connect receipts to invoices, customers and delivery. A holding company instead needs a clear explanation of capital contributions, dividends, investments and distributions, supported by its ownership chart and underlying records. Larger balances do not remove these questions.

For digital assets, distinguish the company converting its own treasury from a business exchanging or holding customer money. Explain relevant licensing status, custody, exchanges, counterparties and the path into fiat. MAS guidance for covered digital-payment-token providers describes risk-based due diligence; it is not a guarantee that any particular bank accepts a crypto business. We assess the model rather than labelling every token-related company alike.

Prepare an honest banking file—not a new application with the same gaps

Prepare incorporation and constitutional documents, beneficial ownership, director and signatory details, a website or business description, sample commercial evidence, and expected currencies and volumes. Source-of-funds records should explain the money entering the account; source-of-wealth evidence may be requested for owners or complex structures. Requirements vary by institution.

If an application was refused, identify the institution and the reason it actually disclosed. Do not invent a reason where none was given, conceal owners, or change the declared business to pass screening. The first enquiry only needs a business summary. Send identity documents through the appropriate secure process later, not in a public contact form.

Tax information and the free Xavion review

IRAS explains that Singapore reporting financial institutions conduct CRS due diligence and report relevant financial-account information. Institution reporting and your own tax-return obligations are different matters. Be ready to provide accurate entity and controlling-person tax-residence information when requested; an overseas account is not a confidentiality or tax-exemption scheme. Take company-management and tax questions to your qualified adviser.

Our initial review covers the account purpose, incorporation country, owner residence and payment model. Where the case is supportable, we explain the appropriate institution type and what needs documenting. We do not promise a specific bank, a fixed opening time or unlimited payments. Account features and any subsequent engagement are confirmed separately.
