If you live in the UAE and own a free zone company, a RAK ICC entity or a company incorporated abroad, a UAE bank account is not always the account your business actually needs. European customers may want to pay a EUR IBAN, UK partners may expect GBP details, and some UAE banks restrict crypto-linked or high-volume international flows. Xavion helps UAE-based owners assess international business accounts outside, or alongside, their UAE banking through a free initial consultation. We point you toward a suitable institution; any paid engagement is agreed separately.

This page is for operating businesses and transparent holding structures. It is not about opening a local UAE company account (see our UAE company bank account guide for that), and it is not a tax planning or secrecy offer. Xavion is an adviser, not the bank or account issuer.

Short answer

Can a UAE resident open a European business account for a free zone company?

It can be possible when the provider accepts the company's jurisdiction, licensed activity, ownership and intended payments. Residence in the UAE neither guarantees nor rules it out. Xavion reviews the complete profile free before you apply.

  • Is this the same as opening a UAE company bank account: No. This service covers accounts outside the UAE or alongside your UAE bank, usually for EUR, GBP or USD operations. For local UAE accounts, see our UAE company bank account guide.
  • Do you work with crypto businesses based in the UAE: Yes, where the activity is documented and, where required, licensed. Providers will want wallet ownership and conversion records, so disclose crypto flows at the start.
  • Is the first review free: Yes. We assess your company, owners and payment flows free and point you toward a suitable institution. Any paid work is agreed separately in writing.

When a UAE account is not enough

Many UAE-based owners hold a local account and still struggle with international operations. Typical situations: European buyers refuse to send SWIFT transfers to Dubai and want SEPA details; a payment provider settles only to a EUR or GBP account in the company's name; a UAE bank has asked to reduce crypto-related or third-party flows; or an offshore company has no UAE bank willing to take it at all.

In each case the useful question is the same: which account, in whose name, receiving which payments from whom. We start from those facts rather than from a list of banks.

Free zone, RAK ICC and foreign companies are assessed differently

A DMCC, IFZA, DIFC or ADGM licence, a RAK ICC company and a BVI or Seychelles company owned from Dubai each raise different questions for an international provider. Licensed activity, office arrangements, where management decisions are taken and the owners' residence visas all feed into the review.

A UAE residence visa usually helps with identity and address checks but does not by itself make a foreign company eligible. Where a structure has weak substance or an activity the licence does not cover, it is better to know that before applying than after a refusal is recorded.

Currencies, rails and crypto flows

Decide which currencies the business must receive and pay, and whether it needs local rails (SEPA, UK Faster Payments, US ACH) or only SWIFT. A multi-currency payment account with an EMI is not the same as a bank deposit account; check the legal provider, safeguarding and transaction limits.

If the business converts stablecoins or receives funds from exchanges, providers will expect a documented trail: wallet ownership, exchange statements and the commercial reason for each conversion. Tell us about crypto activity at the start; hiding it is the most common reason accounts are later closed.

What to prepare for the review

For the free review, a short description is enough: company jurisdiction and licence type, activity, main customer and supplier countries, expected monthly volumes and currencies, and any previous refusals or closures. Later, a provider will typically ask for the trade licence or certificate of incorporation, register of shareholders and directors, owners' passports and Emirates IDs or proof of address, recent statements, sample invoices or contracts, and source-of-funds evidence.

Do not send passports or account numbers through the enquiry form. We tell you which documents matter once we know which type of institution fits.

What Xavion does and does not do

We review the business case free, explain realistic options and point you toward a suitable bank or EMI. Where we take a case on after review, the scope and fee are agreed in writing before any paid work begins. We do not open accounts ourselves, we cannot reverse a decision your existing bank has made, and we do not help structure activity to avoid UAE corporate tax, CRS reporting or sanctions rules.
